Volunteer

Volunteers are recruited by The Children’s Museum of Greater Fall River on a proactive and as needed basis, with the intent of broadening and expanding volunteer involvement within the Museum community. Volunteers may be recruited through an interest in specific functions or through a general interest in volunteering, which will be matched with a specific function. 

Volunteer requirements

  • Volunteers must be 16 years of age.

  • Volunteers who have not reached 18 years of age must present written consent from a parent or guardian to the Executive Director or the Director of Operations prior to volunteering. The volunteer assignment for a minor will be in a non-hazardous environment and will comply with all appropriate requirements of child labor laws. The Children’s Museum of Greater Fall River reserves the right to deny assignments to any individual under the age of 16. 

  • All Volunteers will complete The Volunteer Application Form.

  • All Volunteers 16 and older must complete a Criminal Record Investigation Check (CORI).

  • All volunteers will be required to participate in museum volunteer training prior to the first volunteer experience. 

  • Volunteers associated with a college and/or school, will complete the required paperwork through both the college and the museum and a CORI through the museum

    • College faculty will be responsible for reviewing the CMGFR Code of Conduct with any and all volunteers from their course. 

  • Youth Organizations with children ages 12 and older are encouraged to contact the museum to discuss ideas for service projects. The project will be discussed with the Executive Director or Director of Operations and a decision will be made regarding the feasibility of the project.

    • The above children from the youth organization must have signed written parental/guardian consent forms.

    • All children must be supervised at all times by an adult from their organization.
